Sanctuary. Solitude. Reverence.

Sanctuary. Solitude. Reverence. These are a few that describe a monastic living at Westminster Abbey. 2015 and it’s been 925 years since its construction. Many different monarchs, bishops, and even changing hands of religious institutions and still visitors can feel the sanctuary, solitude, and reverence. Many have spent their livelihood to have themselves or their loved ones interred within the Abbey. There is no distinction between poet or king, if there was enough gold for the price, all were welcomed…a very economically view of burial at the time. To even speak in an audible voice seemed to be disrespectful. Not just to the dead but also the architecture. The Architecture could make someone gawk out of grandeur. The place of worship at every hour invited all creeds for prayer and silence. This place is more then a tourist trap. It is odd. I long for its sanctuary, solitude, and reverence even though it is a tomb for the famous. It humbled me, for which I am most grateful.
